Carlos Trujillo is an American lobbyist and government relations professional, with a political career marked by his work as a state representative in Florida and as United States Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS). Born in Long Island, New York, in 1983, Trujillo moved to Florida in 1988. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Spring Hill College and his juris doctorate from Florida State University in 2007. After working as a district attorney, he founded law firms, currently leading Continental Strategy.

Carlos Trujillo's family immigrated to the United States in the 1960s from Cuba. After a brief stint in Spain, the family members settled in the U.S. and became citizens. Trujillo's mother and her family opened furniture and jewelry businesses in New York, while the father's side did the same in Union City, New Jersey. His parents met in New York, and he was born there in 1983, moving with his family to Florida before he turned five.

Trujillo entered politics in 2010 when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from the 116th District. He won a close race in the Republican primary and won a landslide victory in the general election. After the 2012 district reconfiguration, he ran for the 105th District, facing significant challenges, but secured reelection with broad support, including endorsements from figures such as Jeb Bush. During his tenure, he stood out for conservative positions, including voting against considering a ban on assault weapons in 2018.

In 2017, Trujillo was nominated by Donald Trump to be U.S. ambassador to the OAS, a position in which he was confirmed by the Senate in March 2018. His work in the organization stood out for representing American interests at the regional level. In 2020, Trump nominated Trujillo for the position of Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, but his nomination was returned to the president before it was confirmed.

Trujillo's trajectory reflects a conservative profile and a solid rise in Republican politics, marked by his legislative work in Florida and his performance in the diplomatic field in international organizations.
